So you're interested in mission work

right here in our very own

Jerusalem. Here at First Baptist

Church we have established two

major venues by which we serve

our own community.

The "Mission Odessa" Ministry is where we seek to reach our

community for the Lord Jesus Christ through reaching out

and teaching them in Christian Education.

The "Permian Basin Mission Center" is where we seek to

provide for those in physical need and fill their spiritual needs as

we minister to them.

Mission Odessa

Mission Odessa Ministry was established to meet the spiritual

and physical needs in the mission field of our own community.

Mission Odessa reaches our community with the love of Jesus Christ

and the discipleship of His word.

Through Apartment Community Bible Studies,

Dayschool Bible Studies, Block Parties, Retirement Center Worship Services,

ministry at the

Ector County Detention Center, Criminal Justice Correspondence Ministry,

Cowboy Church, and Jesus Connection (our plant church).

Mission Odessa meets some physical needs in our community through

our annual Christmas Store, Holiday Food distirbution, and school supplies.

Other activies are the annual Swim Party, Fun Day, VBS, and Summer Camp.

Apartment Communities

Mission Odessa now serves 5 area

apartment communities by conducting

Adult Bible Studies, Youth Meetings,

and Children's Church on the premises

of the complex, taking the teaching to

where they live.

Day School Bible Study

Mission Odessa now serves area day

schools with weekly Bible stories, songs,

and verse cards. The songs and stories

are taught to pre-schoolers as well as

older afterschoolers.

Block Parties

Mission Odessa hosts Block Parties at each apartment community

that we serve as well as other locations such as area parks.

Retirement Communities

Mission Odessa serves 2 retirement homes in our community

Lincoln Tower and Sherwood Place. Mission Odessa volunteers

hold two worship services a week as well as other special events

such as an Annual Christmas Party.

Ector County Jail and Criminal Justice Ministries

Mission Odessa volunteers serve both men and women inmates

at the Ector County Jail weekly both in personal and group settings.

Mission Odessa also distributes Christmas bags containing ministry literature and goodies

to all current inmates. Mission Odessa also provides correspondence and Bible Studies to

inmates at detention unites across the county.
