In order to best understand the 2010 missions focus and how best to explain to you the what, where, when and why, you must first go to Acts 1: 8 found in the New Testament.
Christ says to his disciples, "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth."
Act 1:8b NIV
and in the Gospel of Matthew, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
The fulfillment of these two passages by the local church is not an option, but a responsibility.

In Odessa: (Our Jerusalem)
Mission Odessa is the first line of offense in an effort to spread the light of Christ Jesus into our community. By joining in this missions opportunity you have the ability to use your gifts and talents in serving directly, with a hands on approach right here in our own community. Through this ministry we work with Multi-housing units, Jail ministry, Retirement Centers, Day Schools and lead out in community events such as block parties, community clean-ups and First in the Park.
In Texas, North America and Internationally: (Our Judea, Samaria and Ends of the earth)
Missions opportunities are endlesss if you look just a little ways from you, so why do we go to other
places to do the things that we can do right in our own backyard? To help you find the answer, let's
look at the big picture. God came from heaven to earth. What did it cost him? He gave the life
of his one son. How does any of this apply to us? It's simple really. God sent his son so that we
could have the living, breathing example that giving is never too much, that going is never too far,
that loving is never enough and obedience is never wrong. Even if it doesn't make sense or seem to
be the most efficient. Wouldn't it have been easier just to crush Satan from the get go? Wouldn't it
have been better to put Abraham on the promised land in the first place? Why not just make us all
perfect like Jesus and go straight to heaven and pass earth like you were playing monopoly and drew
a get out of hell free card. The answer in a nutshell, obedience.
