WHAT TO EXPECT

First Baptist Church is a church made up of people just like you! You will not find a perfect church with perfect people but a body of hurting, broken, and searching people who have been set free by the blood of Jesus Christ and have been given the greatest mission of sharing in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

WHO WE ARE.

First Baptist Church started in 1896. During these 100 plus years, we have had twenty-six pastors help us minister to and care for the people in the city of Odessa. God has blessed us in every way, with pastors, staff and lay people serving the Lord and touching the lives of people.  We invite you to become a part of this great history of First Baptist Church.

Becoming a Member

FIRST ODESSA

Church Membership

We believe church membership to be a vital step in the maturing process of a believer and follower of Jesus Christ.  In order to be a member of FIRST ODESSA there are a couple of steps that are essential to the process.

1. In order to be a member of FIRST ODESSA, you must first be a follower of Jesus Christ.  If you are unclear as to exactly what this means, call the office and set an appointment with a pastor.

2. Once a person has become a follower of Jesus Christ, the first act of obedience is to follow Jesus' command to be baptized.  Baptism comes after a person has asked for forgiveness of sin and begun a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

3. The last aspect of church membership is to identify a place of service within the church to use the spiritual gifts and talents God has given to each believer in order that they will honor Him and encourage others to do the same.  To find out about opportunities and places to serve in the ministries of FIRST ODESSA, plan to attend our new member/prospect class.
